The networks, right or wrong, are, of course, only showing part of the story. In Shreveport, LA, we are hosting thousands of refugees and evacuees. The poor people you see on TV now are the ones who couldn't leave. They had nothing before the storm and now have less than anything, if that's possible. Our systems are overtaxed, gasoline is going up hourly, and the whole situation is unreal. We are 300 miles from New Orleans, and never had a drop of rain from the hurricane and haven't since. I haven't talked to any of my RR buddies, but the port of NO is closed. There have got to be hundreds of tains that were enroute on KCS, UP, CSX, CN/IC which now have nowhere to go. There are no CSX tracks into NO from the east. The whole thing is incredible. Yet, the day after Katina the sun was shining just like it's supposed to! Please say a prayer for all of us in Louisiana.
