Because, it would seem to me, that those who don’t set the background color to something specific (in the case of SideStep.com, #FFFFFF) are being nothing more than lazy. If you’re going to take the time to design a page, you need to go to the extent of doing it right - whether it’s a personal website or a business. But, especially if it’s a business! Not doing so makes the business look as though they don’t know what they’re doing.

I’m being utterly meticulous while redesigning my personal website, simply because I want it to look as good as humanly possible.
