If you're going to take the time to design a page, you need to go to the extent of doing it right - whether it's a personal website or a business. But, especially if it's a business! Not doing so makes the business look as though they don't know what they're doing. I'm being utterly meticulous while redesigning my personal website, simply because I want it to look as good as humanly possible. Because, it would seem to me, that those who don’t set the background color to something specific (in the case of SideStep.com, #FFFFFF) are being nothing more than lazy.
