So Google has a “Switzerland like approach to content”?
Interesting quote from John Battelle here:

Google doesn’t have it in its DNA to run a service like YouTube (though Google, with its Switzerland like approach to content, is the best fit, in my opinion).
I wonder what exactly he means by that and/or what image he has of Switzerland… I can only guess that he’s referring to the recent hoopla related to the US Department of Justice requesting information about search queries, etc. and them not wanting to give it to them. So I guess he thinks this is kind of like a Swiss Bank that would not hand over information about bank accounts and stuff. Gee, is this still the only thing Americans think of when they hear “Switzerland”? What about all our clocks, fine cheese and chocolate?

Wasn’t he maybe talking about neutrality? Because Google is of course completely and absolutely unbiased and does not rate or block content. Except when it does.

Well, I think I know what he means. American have always tended to be more hands on, jump in and “get their hands dirty”. They make up their mind what is right and wrong and then take action. If this is then “right” by everybodys standard is of course too complicated.
You gotta do what you gotta do. In the second world war, I thank them for that attitude, of stepping in and make a big wrong right, but talking about Vietnam and soon the next Vietnam (to be officially named so) Iraq, I wonder if they are not usualy just spoiling for a fight one way or another.
AND…. what is the person that stands by and behaves neutrally to a “active” judgemental person that prefers to just do anything instead of being diplomatic? Well, a whimp, a coward and of course, a profiter and a entity of weak morals.
Well, morals: Whenever they mention it on a government level, watch out… It will be that countries morals, not much everybody elses. Self interest, nothing more…
In the new world, that will try to avoid wars and conflicts at all costs, such a reckless trigger happy gunslinger will get us all in big trouble…
